How to use this tool
Choose the direction that matches the date you already know. Enter a complete Gregorian date, or a Chinese lunar year, month and day with the correct leap-month flag. Calculate, then check both dates and the weekday. This is useful for verifying family birthday records and anniversaries.
Rules and supported dates
Chinese lunar conversion: 1950–2035. Gregorian calculations: 1900–2199. Leap months remain distinct from regular months.
Worked example
Gregorian 2024-02-10 is Chinese lunar year 2024, month 1, day 1. Converting that lunar date back with the leap-month option off returns the same Gregorian date.
Common question
Are lunar dates always a fixed number of days behind Gregorian dates?
No. The Chinese calendar is lunisolar: its months follow the Moon, with leap months used to keep the year aligned with the seasons. Month lengths and leap months vary. A regular sixth month and a leap sixth month are separate months, so keep any leap-month notation in the original record.
